Scoring Category Breakdown

All categories of judging will be scored based on the overall routine.

Difficulty: Bartenders will receive a higher score for more difficult moves. Please note that a move or series of moves must be successfully caught or completed for it to be considered difficult.

Smoothness: Bartenders will be judged on their smoothness and flow behind the bar. Judges will look at competitor’s transitions from move to move, and solid catch’s and releases.

Originality: Bartenders will be awarded points for more original moves. Innovation and creativity plays a big part in this category.

Variety: Bartenders will be judged on the variety of different moves they perform. The more aspects of flair the bartender displays and the more tools they utilize will generate a higher score. If the bartender uses repetitive moves, they will score lower in this category.

Overall Performance: This category will be based and judged on the showmanship and entertainment value of the overall routine. It reflects the bartender’s aptitude not only to entertain the judges, the crowd, and the sponsors, but also the bartender’s ability flow with the music and entertain themselves. Did the bartender just go up there and flip bottles, or were they a showman and having fun? Was the bartender confident, composed and in control of the room or could the crowd sense their lack of presence and nervousness? At the end of the round, was it a performance that the audience would think or say that it was a great show and that they got their money’s worth?” Bottom line, we all do this because we enjoy it, so have some fun out there.
